  1. Healthcare industry has always been a laggard in IT. With Dell (http://www.technewsworld.com/rsstory/66739.html) entering the fray with fanfare I am sure soon we will see more big names targeting this industry. Slowly the healthcare industry will catch up to the current times. Social Media has gained so much popularity that the healthcare industry might take a short cut to utilize this to catch up.

Paul Baumann has written a great article on 140 uses of twitter in healthcare (http://philbaumann.com/). It is an emerging field and soon we shall see a number of applications connecting various players in the healthcare market. I would like to bring to your attention a twitter application that we have developed to get information on clinical trials.

The app is simple. All you need is to QuTweet (query tweets pronounced cute-tweets) us at TrialX (@trialx), put in the keyword “CT” (for Clinical Trial) followed by your health profile. In about a minute it’ll send you a reply tweet with a tinyurl link to the TrialX page containing matching FDA approved trials as per your QuTweet.

TrialX is an online ‘Do it yourself’ platform catering to patients, investigators, clinical research organizations and hospitals. The site integrates a participant’s personal heath record from Microsoft HealthVault and Google Health, enabling them to find a suitable clinical trial in a matter of minutes.

I would love to get your feedback on the app.
